The issue is that when we trade Karlsson we go for a rebuild. And we don't have our own first rd pick for next year. |

There is huge money sitting on the sidelines ready to engage the Sens and LeBretton redevelopment. More than $8b in long term financing needed. Does anybody really believe that anyone is going to lend this kind of money to a guy who can’t cover his payroll?
Is it possible that one of Ottawa Sports and Entertainmement or Cirque du Soleil or a leading European investor could get the job done? Possibly a combination involving all three?
I assume Alfredsson would be named President of hockey ops. |
|
|
|
I can buy the sale rumours, but making Alfie President of Hockey Ops would be a bad start. Unless Alfie is a incredibly quick learner, he is not qualified.
First thing first, get some new ownership. |

Unless the return is a grand slam, they shouldn't be trading Hoffman.
So of course, they will, and it wont be.
What do people think they'd get? If i recall, there was a rumor involving the prospect Kyrou from the blues. |

Kyrou and Dunn would be nice, but that might be a tad too much. Kyrou and Schmaltz may be more close.
Was this before or after they traded for B. Schenn? |

Colorado knows that pick would be high. We would need to retain 50% and add a decent prospect to get the pick back (I'm afraid). |

No way.
Reinhart had more goals than him this year. They're not that far apart.
It's basically Reinhart and #32 for Stone (saves melnyk money)
and Hoffman for a potentially high 2019 1st which they desperately need.
Toss in Nylander/Asplund whatever prospect as necessary |

Stone played 58 games had 20 goals, over ppg with 62 pts
Rhino played 82 games had 25 games and only 50 points.
Saying he had more goals that Stone to compare their values is very misleading considering Rhino played 24 more games than him...I think Stone could score 5 in 24 games to match a 82 goal production
Never mind that Stone only had 1 ppg and Reinhart had 12 ppg. 5v5 production, they arent even in the same league
PLus Stone is one of the better 2 way wingers in the game. The guy is a stud and only 26 |

What's a better fit? Stone at 26, Hoffman at 28, with the Sens heading into (probably) a lengthy rebuild, or a 22-year old Sam Reinhart, a first round pick, pick #32 and a prospect?
Say it takes them 4 years to get back to contention - with no first next year - those guys are at or over 30. Reinhart would be 25, and that first round pick would be 22 |

Stone....im a big big fan of him. If you can get him out of Ott, thats a big win.
Hoffman I feel like will be traded bc of age and pending UFA after his contract.
Stone has team control with RFA status so the smart money is for Sens to try to keep him but he is the better asset to try to get from them. But if Ott messes up contract talks and he only goes for a 1 year deal to get him to UFA. You go after Stone hard |

If Melnyk indeed sells the team, then the future is bright indeed. I don't see any of the core players leaving, and in fact I see new ownership adding to make the team competitive as soon as possible.
Even if Melnyk does not sell the team immediately, I still believe that he is a shrewd businessman and wants to make as much on a sale of the team as possible, therefore he does not want to gut the team by trading all their valuable assets.
Furthermore, I believe, if not immediately after the Cup finals, the team is to be sold, the first sign will be Karlsson resigning with the club - With Melnyk as the owner he won't, but if he is promised that there will be new ownership, especially with his mentor Alfredsson in the mix, he will. |

Black hawks blog floated the idea of trading Hossa's contract to the Sens. What would people think about that?
His cap hit is way above his actual salary. Are there recapture penalties that the Sens would need to worry about, or is that Chicago's problem? |

Small chance, Hawks don't have a deep prospect system. Would only be interesting if we could get a Forsling or DeBrincat but that is not happening after the Teravainen mistake. |

Okay, I will try to play along. Assuming those will be the lines:
??? Eichel Okposo
Nylander O'Reilly Reinhart
Rodrigues Mittelstadt Pominville
Moulson Larsson Baptiste
I would just stand pat and sign JVR (slight overpay because UFA but good player). Or a Vanek as stop gap. Reinhart + 1st would not get you Stone + Hoffman. Maybe Reinhart straight up for Hoffman would interest the Sens but then you still have an issue of an empty spot in the top 6.
If we would go Reinhart + 1st road for Hoffman + Stone we also would like a Mittelstadt or Nylander included, and I think that is a no go for the Sabres?
